Slept Away
by Julie Kraut
Laney Parker is big time city girl. She just finished up another year of high school, and is looking forward to summer. Her plans? She doesn't really have any, aside from lounging and tanning on rooftop swimming pools with Kennedy, her best friend, and parties with her classmates. And then her mother drops the bomb: Laney is going to Camp Timber Trails!
Laney is away from everything and everyone she knows, until she finds Ryan, the guy in New York that everyone dislikes because of something that happens many years ago. She is forced into wearing hideous clothes that her weird mother packed for her. There is no A/C, no phones, no internet, and she sleeps in a cabin that reminds her of Lincoln Logs. Plus, she doesn't have a choice in the activities, which is hell.
Will Laney leave camp miserable, or will she have changed for the better?
Grade: A
Whoa! I loooooove camp. And I loved this book. It was so cute, and it was totally realistic. Though I'm not sure about the separation between the girls and boys. That would be crazy. Anyway, I really enjoyed this. But I got kind of annoyed by Laney. She never stopped complaining. But I loved her personality, along with Sylvie, the bestie she made at camp. Overall, you should pick this up for a fun, fast read to start off the summer.
