Star Crossed

Star Crossed
by Mark Schreiber

4.5/5

Christy Marlowe is a sarcastic, astrology-obsessed sixteen year old. She meets Ben Penrose, a polite college freshman, at a plastic surgeon's office. Both want to remove unwanted tattoos from their pasts they want to forget.

As Christy tries to forget her past, it seems to come right back to her. Benjamin, her ex that was sent to jail for shooting someone, was released, and he is wanting to speak to her.

Christy and Ben maintain a great relationship. They have so many similarities in one another. But, as much as they know each other, they know that they are both keeping some secrets as well. Through their ups and downs, we find out what is really happening in Ben's life, and what the secret is behind his tattoo.

This story was amazing. Christy was hilarious, and Ben was so sweet. The plot was really good, and the climax was totally unexpected. The relationship between the two was just, perfect, even though the reader knows that they are both keeping stuff from each other. The truth behind Ben's tattoo was crazy. I wouldn't have guessed that; it was really weird actually. But, overall, I recommend this story to everyone. The story flows well, and it's a really enjoyable book. :)

Beastly

Beastly by Alex Flinn

4.5/5

Kyle Kingsbury is perfect. He's rich, popular, everybody loves him, and all the girls want him. That is, until a witch turns him into a beast.

But first, Kyle becomes homecoming king. He gives a random girl a corsage that makes her day. He pisses off Kendra, some goth girl, and then she is on his bed when he gets home after the dance. That's when it happens.

The next day, Kyle wakes up and he isn't beautiful anymore. He is hideous. His father, a newsman, can't have a son that looks as bad as this. He helps for a while, then gives up, and sends Kyle to a house in Brooklyn with only the maid, Magda. Then Kyle insists on a tutor, since he can't, obviously, go to his old school. His tutor is Will, a blind man who really helps Kyle.

Kyle becomes lonely, depressed. He turns to gardening roses for coping. Will tutors him, and he reads books like The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Phantom of the Opera. He is so distraught, he changes his name to Adrian. Kyle meant "handsome" and Adrian meant "darkness." One night, a man breaks into his house, and "Adrian" catches him. The man says he will give the beast his daughter if he will let him go.

Lindy shows up at Adrian's home. Lindy, the girl he gave the corsage to. She could break the curse. The curse that can change he back into a human , by true love. Can it work out, after he gives her everything she asks for, which is hardly anything? Will Adrian be Kyle Kingsbury ever again??

This book was great. It puts a whole new perspective of Beauty and the Beast in your head. It's totally different, and though it's not possbile, totally the same! Kyle is such a jerk at the beginning of the book. It's crazy to "see" him change so much. I really liked this book. I'm hoping to read more by Alex Flinn. Her writing is really good. I loved her "version" of Beauty and the Beast. I suggest you read it! :)

Bloom

Bloom by Elizabeth Scott

4/5

Lauren plays it safe. She has the boyfriend that everyone wants. The best friend that just wants to help her. But why isn't she happy? Her home life is silent. She doesn't let Katie, her best friend, know anything about her. Dave, her boyfriend, thinks he knows her, but in reality, he knows hardly anything at all.

When Evan Kirkland shows up, Lauren's life is turned upside-down. The person she is with him is completely different than anything she has ever experienced. It's not safe like it is with everyone else in her life. It's unexpected.

Things start becoming unbearable for Lauren as she realizes that she isn't happy with her current life. Evan makes it more interesting, and that is exactly what she wants and needs.

This was a really good book. My only problem with it was that the outcome was totally predictable. I mean, it's a good outcome, but it would have been better if I didn't see it coming already. I also didn't really understand how the feelings between Lauren and Evan "bloomed" (no pun intended) the way they did, especially since they were basically brother and sister at some point. But, overall I really enjoyed the book. Lauren's character was relatable to girls who are unhappy in a relationship, but it changes when they meet someone else.

Breaking Dawn

WARNING: Contains Spoilers. DON'T read if you haven't read BD and intend on reading it!

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

5/5!

Since so many people already know what this book is about, I figured I would just write what I thought about the book.

The beginning was pretty slow. I was so excited when Bella and Edward got married. That was the big thing that I really wanted to happen. The honey moon part was great. I really think it would have made it better if Meyer actually wrote more in detail about the first time Bella and Edward had sex, just for the fact that I know you be able to feel the passion. But, it was still just as great.

I was so surprised that Bella got pregnant. And at how fast the baby was growing was crazy. I got really scared when the baby was born, just because it seemed like Bella wasn't strong enough. I just could not get into the section of the book that was in Jacob's point of view. I don't really like Jacob, so it made me read really slow. It was crazy when Jacob imprinted on Nessie.

The whole Volturi commotion was horrible. I thought everyone was going to die. The ending of BD was amazing. I loved it.

I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion from the Twilight Saga. I suggest that everyone read the series and fall in love with Bella and Edward, just like I did.

Bad News...But Good News!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth installment of the hit series, was SUPPOSED to come out in theatres on November 21, 2008. Now, I was so excited, because I am in love with Harry Potter. Then, I hear that the release has been moved to July 17, 2009! That's just crazy. The reasoning behind the change? They want more money...erm...I mean, they think a summer release date is better for the family crowds.

So, I'm pretty upset about Harry Potter. But, at the same time, pretty excited. Twilight is taking the opening slot, meaning it is coming out in November, instead of December! This is great news, since I was soooo depressed over my love, Harry Potter. Only a few months to go before I see my other love, Edward Cullen, on the big screen! Woot woot! :)

Tag, You're It!

What was I doing 10 years ago?: I was 8 years old. Loooong time ago! Sheesh! I would be going to Downing Elementary School...in like, 3rd grade, I think.

What are five things on my to-do list today?: Well, seeing how today is almost over, I will do tomorrow. 1) Read more of Breaking Dawn 2) Clean my room 3) Finish my laundry completely 4) Talk to the parentals about insurance 5) Apply for more jobs

Snacks I enjoy: Cheddar and Sour Cream Chips, Cheez-Its, Pretzels, Hershey's Chocolate

Places I've lived: Washington (Tacoma)

Things I would do if I was a billionaire: I would buy my dream car (a red convertible Mustang from the '60s!) and go on one extreme shopping spree. I would also begin traveling around the world, like I've always wanted to do. I would make sure my family is well-equiped with everything they need, as well as donate some to Good Samaritan.

Who's being tagged: Whoever hasn't done it, I guess. Go for it!
